Enhancing essential life skills through subjects you enjoy

King’s College International School Bangkok has formed a handful of Robotics teams as part of our ECA (extracurricular activities) program with our Senior School students. These groups comprise Year 7-10s who have a passion for and interest in innovation with STEM, creating robots, and solving real-world problems, with the current term’s focus being transportation issues.

In this class, our students have a chance to create, build and program their own robots working together with their teammates. They must design a robot with utmost efficiency to overcome obstacles experienced in transportation, whether it be by land, air or water, and they must adapt their creations to be suitable for geographically varied areas and unexpected hurdles.

The problem-based learning format for ECA-Robotics extends all involved students’ knowledge by encouraging them to employ intercurricular skills, such as programming and mathematics, to practically solve any problems they are faced with. Critical thinking, determination, resilience, teamwork, leadership abilities and planning ahead are some of the variety of skills developed in this optional after-school club. With these necessary foundations, our students will be able to adapt to the rapidly-changing world, because their practice enhances both their intelligence and emotional quotient.

Apart from nurturing the values of good manners, kindness and wisdom in every member of the King’s Bangkok family, striving for academic excellence and offering a wide variety of activities our students are interested in is integral to our success. We aim to push our students in order to teach them to be well-rounded with essential skills they will need in life as global citizens.

โรงเรียนนานาชาติคิงส์คอลเลจกรุงเทพได้ตั้ง Robotics team และเปิดสอนวิชานี้เป็นหนึ่งในกิจกรรมหลักสูตร ECA ให้สำหรับนักเรียนที่สนใจนวัตกรรมอย่างการสร้างหุ่นยนต์ เพื่อตอบโจทย์หรือแก้ไขปัญหาต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นในสังคมของเรา โดยธีมหลักของเราในภาคเรียนนี้คือการแก้ไขปัญหาเรื่องระบบขนส่งในยุคปัจจุบัน

ในห้องเรียนนี้ นักเรียนของเราจะได้สร้างและโปรแกรมหุ่นยนต์ร่วมกันเป็นทีมกับเพื่อน ๆ ของเขา เพื่อให้ได้หุ่นยนต์ที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุดที่สามารถข้ามฝ่าอุปสรรคหรือปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่างการเดินทางขนส่งสินค้าต่าง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการขนส่งทางบก ทางน้ำ หรืออากาศ ที่อาจมีเหตุการณ์ที่ไม่คาดคิดเกิดขึ้น หรือปัจจัยความแตกต่างทางภูมิภาคที่ต้องคำนึงถึง

การจัดการเรียนรู้เชิงแก้ปัญหาจริงในวิชา Robotics ในหลักสูตร ECA นั้น ไม่เพียงต่อยอดความรู้ที่ต้องผสมผสานจากหลายแขนง อาทิ การฝึกป้อนข้อมูลคำสั่งหุ่นยนต์ และการประยุกต์วิชาคณิตศาสตร์มาใช้ในการแก้ไขปัญหาเท่านั้น แต่นักเรียนของเรายังพัฒนาทักษะต่าง ๆ ที่จำเป็นต่อการใช้ชีวิตในสังคมโลกข้างนอกอีกด้วย อย่างเช่น ทักษะการคิดวิเคราะห์ ความพากเพียร ภาวะความเป็นผู้นำ การทำงานเป็นทีม หรือความอดทน ไม่ย่อท้อต่อความผิดพลาดหรือความล้มเหลวที่เกิดขึ้น ซึ่งทักษะเหล่านี้เป็นพื้นฐานสำคัญที่ทำให้พวกเขาประสบความสำเร็จในโลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างรวดเร็วเช่นนี้ได้
