Important Note

 The aims of the School's recruitment policy are as follows:

  • to ensure that the best possible staff are recruited on the basis of their merits, abilities and suitability for the position;

  • to ensure that all job applicants are considered equally and consistently;

  • to ensure that no job applicant is treated unfairly on any grounds including race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or religious belief, sex or sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, disability or age;

  • to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, recommendations and guidance including the statutory guidance published by the Department for Education (DfE), Keeping children safe in education (September 2023) (KCSIE); and Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006 (DUCA), the Prevent Duty Guidance for England and Wales 2015 (the Prevent Duty Guidance) and any guidance or code of practice published by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS);

  • to ensure that the School meets its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people by carrying out all necessary pre-employment checks and adopting safer recruitment practices and procedures.

All applicants undergo a rigorous reference verification process that is designed to ensure the safety and security of our students. We conduct police checks for the preceding 10-year period and make numerous calls to their references to verify that the applicant is an individual of good standing. Those who are based or have lived previously in the United Kingdom are subject to an ICPC check, whilst those based elsewhere must submit local police records that are no older than 6 months to both the school and the Embassy/Consulate, if they are applying from abroad.

For UK-qualified individuals, we scrutinise their QTS records with a Teaching Status Check and a Prohibition Order Check. For senior management roles, we verify that the applicant has not been banned from serving in a management-level role.
