The Thailand New Gen Inventors Award (I-New Gen Award) 2026

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our student, Pam Year 13, whose project Shine Beyond the Shadow has received recognition across several national and international innovation competitions. Her tactile board game project for visually impaired players has earned multiple prestigious awards, including

  • The Global Student Innovation Challenge (gSIC) 2025Gold Awards in Design Category, bestowed upon by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
  • The Student Innovation Challenge (SIC) Thailand 2025  —  Gold Awards in Design Category, representing Thailand
  • The 17th ICAO Air Services Negotiation (ICAN) 2025Gold Medal with Best Invention Design Award & IFIA Special Award

Shine Beyond the Shadow is an inclusive board game project designed to allow sighted and visually impaired players to enjoy games together equally. Inspired by her lifelong love of board games, Pam recognised that many traditional games rely heavily on sight, unintentionally excluding visually impaired individuals. Determined to change this, she created games where touch becomes a shared language of play.

Pam credits much of the project’s development to the skills and experiences she gained through IGCSE Design and Technology. Through the course, she explored user-centred design, 3D modelling, and practical innovation, while making full use of the school’s D&T facilities and software, including 3D printers, Fusion 360, and Canva. These experiences helped transform her ideas into a meaningful and impactful project.

One of the most memorable moments came during playtesting sessions at the Bangkok School for the Blind, where students shared that it was one of the first times they had truly felt included in gameplay. Through resilience, creativity, and empathy, Pam’s work reminds us that innovation does not always require complex technology, but begins with understanding others and ensuring that “No One is Left Behind.”
