An Inspiring Day: Orchestral Strings Workshop at King’s Bangkok
Our King’s Bangkok orchestral strings were recently joined by musicians and lecturers from Aum Aree Music School for an inspiring and highly engaging workshop. Working together on Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Military March, students explored new approaches to tone production, ensemble balance and expressive playing. The improvement in sound across the orchestra was immediate and noticeable.
The session brought together students from across the school, with our Year 6 musicians joining the orchestra and contributing with confidence and enthusiasm. It was particularly encouraging to see this collaboration, and we look forward to building on it in future projects.
A special highlight was the opportunity for student leaders from both the Primary and Senior Orchestras to perform solos, demonstrating musical maturity and setting a strong example for younger players.
This workshop truly captured what it means to engage, inspire and extend our musicians. Through expert guidance and shared music-making, students deepened their understanding and were challenged to think more critically about their sound. It was a powerful reminder that wisdom takes you further, and that great music is built through collaboration, curiosity and high expectations.
