Opera Siam Presents the Holocaust Memorial Concert at King's Bangkok

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January), the Embassy of Israel in Thailand and the German Embassy in Bangkok, in cooperation with Opera Siam, presented a Holocaust Memorial Concert at King’s College International School Bangkok, honouring the memory of the Holocaust through the universal language of music.

The evening opened with thoughtful remarks by H.E. Dr Alona Fisher-Kamm, Ambassador of Israel to Thailand, and H.E. Dr Ernst Reichel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Thailand, delivered in the presence of ambassadors and representatives from many nations. Representing the student body, Daniel (Year 12) read a poem of remembrance.

Under the baton of Thai National Artist Somtow Sucharitkul, the Siam Sinfonietta delivered a deeply moving performance of works by Henryk Górecki and Richard Strauss, with American soprano Cassandra Black appearing as soloist. The concert was complemented by an accompanying exhibition presented by the Embassy of Israel, enriching the evening’s reflection and commemoration.
