At King’s Bangkok, we celebrate the passion and creativity of our students who are determined to make a difference. Jaisai and Tarn Year 13, members of the Carbon Club, have been on a mission to raise awareness about carbon emissions and explore ways our community can contribute to reducing them.

Drip Drop Machine
During their research, they identified that air travel is a major source of emissions and learned that several countries, especially in Europe, now require airlines to use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). One of the key ingredients for SAF is used cooking oil (UCO) — something Thailand produces in abundance through households, restaurants, and street vendors. However, collection logistics are often limited, leaving much of this valuable resource wasted.

From this challenge, the Drip Drop Machine was born. This student-designed innovation offers a simple and accessible solution for communities to recycle their UCO responsibly. The machine measures both the volume and quality of the oil, compensates users for their contributions, and makes collection more efficient for recycling companies. This not only prevents pollution but also supports the production of SAF, a critical step toward a more sustainable future.

The Drip Drop Machine has already received international recognition, including:

• Gold Medal in the 10th International Invention Innovation Competition (iCAN) 2025 — Toronto, Canada

• Silver Medal in the 14th World Invention Creativity Olympics (WICO)  2025 — Seoul, South Korea

• Bronze Medal in the 10th Korea International Youth Olympiad 4I (KIYO) 2025 — Seoul, South Korea

• Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, awarded by the National Research Council of Thailand

Looking ahead, the students plan to expand their innovation by connecting the machine with banking systems, developing advanced oil testing methods, and creating larger models suitable for distant communities. Their vision is to see Drip Drop Machines in schools, public spaces, and markets, where more people can be incentivised to recycle their used cooking oil in a sustainable and rewarding way.

At King’s Bangkok, we are incredibly proud of Jaisai and Tarn. Their Drip Drop Machine is a testament to the power of student-led innovation, proving that young minds can create solutions with global relevance and real-world impact.

จากการศึกษาค้นคว้า นักเรียนทั้งสองได้เล็งเห็นว่า การเดินทางทางอากาศ เป็นแหล่งปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ที่สำคัญ และได้เรียนรู้ว่าหลายประเทศ โดยเฉพาะในยุโรป ได้กำหนดให้สายการบินต้องใช้ เชื้อเพลิงการบินยั่งยืน (Sustainable Aviation Fuel - SAF) หนึ่งในส่วนประกอบสำคัญของ SAF คือ น้ำมันประกอบอาหารใช้แล้ว (Used Cooking Oil - UCO) ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ประเทศไทยมีอยู่อย่างมากมายจากครัวเรือน ร้านอาหาร และแผงลอยต่าง ๆ อย่างไรก็ตาม ระบบการรวบรวมยังมีข้อจำกัด ทำให้ทรัพยากรที่มีค่านี้จำนวนมากต้องสูญเปล่าไป

จากความท้าทายนี้เอง Drip Drop Machine จึงถือกำเนิดขึ้น นวัตกรรมที่ออกแบบโดยนักเรียนทั้งสองคนนี้ นำเสนอ การแก้ปัญหาที่เรียบง่ายและเข้าถึงได้ สำหรับครัวเรือนและชุมชนในการรีไซเคิลน้ำมันประกอบอาหารใช้แล้วอย่างมีความรับผิดชอบ เครื่องนี้สามารถวัดปริมาณและคุณภาพของน้ำมัน สิ่งชดเชยที่ผู้ใช้จะได้รับสำหรับความร่วมมือของพวกเขา และการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการรวบรวมสำหรับบริษัทรีไซเคิล ซึ่งไม่เพียงแต่จะช่วยป้องกันมลพิษ แต่ยังสนับสนุนการผลิต SAF ซึ่งเป็นก้าวสำคัญสู่อนาคตที่ยั่งยืนยิ่งขึ้น

• รางวัลประกาศนียบัตรจากกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม โดยสำนักงานการวิจัยแห่งชาติ (วช.)

นอกจากนี้ น้องใจใสและน้องธารยังมีแผนที่จะขยายขอบเขตของนวัตกรรมนี้ โดยการเชื่อมต่อเครื่องเข้ากับระบบธนาคาร พัฒนาวิธีการทดสอบน้ำมันขั้นสูง และสร้างแบบจำลองที่มีขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นเพื่อรองรับชุมชนที่ห่างไกล วิสัยทัศน์ของพวกเขาคือการเห็น Drip Drop Machine ถูกติดตั้งในโรงเรียน พื้นที่สาธารณะ และตลาดต่าง ๆ เพื่อจูงใจให้ผู้คนจำนวนมากหันมารีไซเคิลน้ำมันประกอบอาหารใช้แล้วในรูปแบบที่ยั่งยืนและคุ้มค่า
