Life Below Water: UNSDGs embedded at King’s Bangkok

While STEAM is part of our curriculum, our annual STEAM Week is a special opportunity for children to see how learning connects with the wider world. This year, it centred on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, with the question, “How can we help protect coral reefs from human impact?”

Let us take you back through the learning journey of our Primary students, who explored this theme through hands-on activities from expert talks to workshops, and designing artificial reef models—with their parents joining the journey. These creative reef designs are now on display in our Library as a source of learning and inspiration. Most impressively, the winning design has been placed in the sea off Koh Tao as a real marine habitat—demonstrating how STEAM learning brings global goals to life and inspires action for a sustainable future.

แม้ STEAM จะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของหลักสูตรของเรา แต่กิจกรรม STEAM Week ซึ่งจัดขึ้นทุกปี เป็นเวทีพิเศษที่เปิดโอกาสให้เด็ก ๆ เห็นว่าการเรียนรู้สามารถเชื่อมโยงกับโลกได้อย่างไร โดยปีนี้ได้เน้นไปที่เป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนขององค์การสหประชาชาติ ข้อที่ 14: ชีวิตใต้ท้องทะเล เป็นหัวใจหลักของการเรียนรู้ ภายใต้คำถาม “เราจะช่วยปกป้องแนวปะการังจากผลกระทบของมนุษย์ได้อย่างไร?”

เราขอผ่านทุกคน ย้อนกลับไปสำรวจร่วมกันกับนักเรียน Primary ของเราที่ได้เรียนรู้ผ่านกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ทั้งการบรรยายจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ เวิร์กช็อป และการออกแบบแนวปะการังเทียม โดยมีผู้ปกครองร่วมเรียนรู้ไปกับพวกเขา นอกจากนี้ ผลงานการออกแบบของเด็ก ๆ ยังได้ถูกนำมาจัดแสดงในห้องสมุดของโรงเรียน เพื่อเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้และสร้างแรงบันดาลใจต่อไป ส่วนผลงานที่ชนะเลิศได้นำไปติดตั้งจริงที่เกาะเต่าเพื่อเป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของสิ่งมีชีวิตใต้ทะเล สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าการเรียนรู้แบบ STEAM สามารถจุดประกายความคิด เชื่อมโยงความรู้สู่การลงมือทำ และสร้างจิตสำนึกเพื่ออนาคตที่ยั่งยืน
