Green spaces matter at King's Bangkok
Although King’s College International School Bangkok is located in the heart of Bangkok, we believe strongly in creating green spaces at our school. We want our students to learn in a fresh and green environment because this directly affects their well-being and gives them the opportunity to be close to nature.
The school landscape is designed with student well-being in mind, so we have chosen about 20 species of plants, including perennial plants, shrub, and mulch to surround our site, with around 150 perennial trees, 1,300 shrubs and 3,100 pots of mulch.
We have carefully selected various types of plants to surround and fill our area. For example, we have Norfolk Island Pine, Banyan tree, Mast tree, Australian rose apple and Wart fern. These plants benefit the school community as they not only give shade to the campus, but they also absorb toxic air and reduce pollution in our school. Though we have installed air conditioning units equipped with MERV13 which are able to filter PM2.5 pollution, we want students to learn and play outside. Moreover, most of the plants are auspicious trees according to Thai beliefs, which include Bullet wood tree, False rubber tree, and Water jasmine. These plants give students the opportunity to learn about Thai culture as well.
King’s Bangkok believes that a school’s site plays an important part in the learning and development of each student. That’s why we carefully select and manage our green spaces on campus to provide and create the best atmosphere for their well-being, because this supports our students to learn and grow as well-rounded young people.
