Wisdom sharing, Tips for Oxbridge and other dream universities by Head Master Andrew Halls OBE

A team from King’s Wimbledon came to King’s College International School Bangkok to ensure the quality of education, ethos, and atmosphere at our school. In this time, Andrew Halls OBE, Head Master of King’s Wimbledon (2008-2021), took the opportunity to speak with Year 9 and 10 students about Oxbridge and overseas applications, highlighting steps to prepare for applications and higher education.
He talked them through the main differences between US and UK universities and their application processes (e.g. the UK’s UCAS vs the US’ university direct applications, A Levels/IB/SATs/ACTs/APs/etc.), grades that certain top, world-class institutions may look for, and what different student profiles look like. However, his main focus was on the fact that, most importantly, students have to love the subjects they choose because to experience true success and happiness in their university life and beyond, they have to be passionate about what they study. To pick a subject they enjoy and an institution where they will thrive, they must understand themselves and their skillsets, which our teachers and the King’s Bangkok family support them in doing.
We at King’s Bangkok share this sentiment. We aim to provide our students with a myriad of opportunities that expose them to areas and subjects that they may not have encountered beforehand. This is because, in this ever-changing world, there are thousands more professions than simply doctors, lawyers and engineers, and even under those umbrellas, there are dozens of specialisations and niches that might appeal to some of our students. We know that we will have prepared our students to attend the best universities worldwide when they graduate with A Levels, strong extra-curriculars, the core values we instill in every child and their demonstrated interest in the subjects they choose. At the end of the day, we want our students to be passionate about the paths they choose to pursue and we will support their discovery of these so their great hearts can take them further.
คณะครูผู้บริหารจากโรงเรียนคิงส์คอลเลจวิมเบิลดัน ได้มาเยี่ยมชมและตรวจสอบคุณภาพโรงเรียนนานาชาติคิงส์คอลเลจกรุงเทพ เพื่อให้มั่นใจถึงคุณภาพการศึกษา คุณค่า และบรรยากาศของโรงเรียนของเรา โดยในครั้งนี้ มร.แอนดรูว์ ฮอลส์ ครูใหญ่โรงเรียนคิงส์คอลเลจวิมเบิลดัน (ปี 2551-2564) ได้ใช้โอกาสนี้พูดคุยกับนักเรียน Year 9 และ Year 10 ของคิงส์คอลเลจกรุงเทพ โดยเน้นถึงขั้นตอนการเตรียมตัวเกี่ยวกับการสอบเข้า Oxbridge รวมถึงมหาวิทยาลัยอื่น ๆ ในต่างประเทศ
