Celebrating Loy Krathong Festival at King’s Bangkok

This year, Loy Krathong is another special day at King’s Bangkok. We invited all the children to dress up in Thai costume. Apart from learning the tradition of Loy Krathong, our students also enjoyed making their own Krathongs from the equipment and tools provided at school.

After finishing their Krathongs, Early Years students floated theirs in the private pool in their classrooms and Year 1-6 students brought theirs back home to float with their parents. We challenged our senior school students to, in groups, make 3 types of Krathong - classic, creative and recycled – to float and compete with their friends on campus.

Though we didn’t have big Loy Krathong performances like last year, due to the strictness of COVID guidelines, we are glad that our students could still get to know our traditions and enjoy these activities with their friends. We truly hope that when the pandemic eases, we can then organize events and have opportunities to show our students' talents soon. Happy Loy Krathong!

เทศกาลลอยกระทงในปีนี้ ถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งวันพิเศษที่เด็ก ๆ ได้ฉลองร่วมกันที่คิงส์คอลเลจกรุงเทพ โดยเราได้เชิญชวนให้เด็ก ๆ แต่งกายด้วยชุดไทย นอกจากเด็ก ๆ จะได้สนุกสนานไปกับการเรียนรู้เรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับประเพณีลอยกระทงแล้ว คุณครูของเรายังได้จัดเตรียมอุปกรณ์ทำกระทงไว้อย่างครบครัน เพื่อให้นักเรียนของเราได้ลงมือประดิษฐ์กระทงของตัวเองอีกด้วย

สำหรับนักเรียน Early Years เด็ก ๆ ได้นำกระทงของตัวเองไปลอยในสระน้ำที่ทางโรงเรียนจัดไว้ให้ตามห้องเรียนอย่างสนุกสนาน ส่วนนักเรียน Year 1 ถึง Year 6 ได้นำกระทงกลับบ้านไปลอยร่วมกับผู้ปกครอง และเราได้จัดกิจกรรมให้นักเรียน Senior School แข่งขันทำกระทงกันเป็นกลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 3 รูปแบบ คือ กระทงแบบดั้งเดิม แบบสร้างสรรค์ และแบบรีไซเคิล

แม้ว่าในปีนี้เราจะไม่ได้จัดกิจกรรมการแสดงอย่างยิ่งใหญ่เหมือนดังเช่นปีที่ผ่านมา แต่เราก็รู้สึกดีใจที่เด็ก ๆ ได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับประเพณีดั้งเดิมและได้สนุกสนานกับการทำกิจกรรมร่วมกับเพื่อน ๆ ของพวกเขาอย่างสุขสันต์ในวันลอยกระทง และเราหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าเมื่อสถานการณ์ดีขึ้น เราจะสามารถกลับมาจัดเวทีให้เด็ก ๆ ได้แสดงความสามารถกันอย่างเต็มที่อีกครั้งในเร็ว ๆ นี้
