Remembrance Day 2024: Honouring Sacrifice and Reflecting on Peace

At 11.00am on 11th November 1918, the First World War came to an end, and since then, the occasion has been commemorated each year. We believe that honouring the memory of all those who lost their lives in that war and subsequent conflicts is vital to express our gratitude for those who sacrificed so much for our safety.

This year at King’s Bangkok, we came together to honour the fallen. Students gathered on The Common, Mrs Sarah Raffray, our Executive Principal, delivered an address on the importance of remembrance and peace. Heartfelt readings followed, evoking deep reflection on the impact of war. The ceremony culminated in a minute of silence, during which The Last Post was played. Our student representatives also attended the service at the British Club of Bangkok on Sunday, laying wreaths to further express our respect. Remembrance Day at King’s Bangkok was a powerful moment to reflect on the values of good manners, kindness, and wisdom, which we hope our students carry forward into the future.

ในวันที่ 11 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2461 เวลา 11.00 น. ถือเป็นการสิ้นสุดสงครามโลกครั้งที่หนึ่ง นับแต่นั้นมา ผู้คนทั่วโลกต่างใช้วันนี้ของทุกปีในการรำลึกถึงผู้ที่เสียชีวิตจากการเสียสละตนเองในสงคราม เช่นเดียวกับที่โรงเรียนนานาชาติคิงส์คอลเลจกรุงเทพ ซึ่งได้จัดกิจกรรมยืนสงบนิ่งเพื่อรำลึกถึงความเสียสละเหล่านั้น ณ The Common ของโรงเรียน โดยมีมิสซิสซาร่า ราฟเฟรย์ ครูผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ กล่าวถึงความสำคัญของการรำลึกถึงวันทหราผ่านศึก ตามด้วยการอ่านบทกวีโดยตัวแทนนักเรียน และการยืนสงบนิ่งร่วมกันเพื่อระลึกถึงผู้ที่เสียสละชีวิต พร้อมด้วยการบรรเลงเพลง The Last Post โดยตัวแทนนักเรียน นอกจากนี้ นักเรียนจากระดับชั้น Year 6 ยังได้เป็นตัวแทนของโรงเรียนเข้าร่วมพิธีที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตอังกฤษ กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมา เพื่อวางพวงมาลาที่อนุสรณ์สถานทหารผ่านศึกและยืนไว้อาลัยให้แก่ผู้ที่เสียชีวิตในสงครามอีกด้วย
