Primary School
Learning Approach

We believe learning should light a spark, not just tick a box. It should be meaningful, hands-on, and always push children to think deeper.

Our Learner Profile

At King’s Bangkok, we have developed a Primary Learner profile. It builds on the Characteristics of Effective Learning in the Early Years and is developed further in the Senior School.

The Learner Profile has been designed to provide students with the skills and abilities necessary to become successful, productive lifelong learners. These skills are identified by the World Economic Forum. The Learner profile closely links with our Enquiry approach to learning and is not taught as a discrete lesson, but underpins all of our teaching and learning activities.

Enquiry Learning

Our approach to learning is through an enquiry and playful approach. Students engage by thinking critically as teachers spark curiosity with questions and scenarios. They are then inspired to research with teacher support, deepening their understanding through resources and guidance. Students finally extend their learning by reflecting, applying what they've learned, and developing resilience through challenges and feedback.

Academic Success

Our support of children, approach and curriculum lead to outstanding academic results. We assess our children through a number of standardised assessments, and all students make exceptional academic progress and achieve outstanding results.

Our curriculum

We follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales and tailor it to the needs of our students and the environment that we live in. With an international cohort, we continue to place literacy and language development at the centre of our curriculum, as this allows access to and success in every other subject. We have specialist teachers for PE, swimming, music, art, design technology, computing, Thai, Mandarin, and drama (KS2).

Global citizenship

Global citizenship underpins our curriculum and our Learner Profile. For us, being a global citizen means caring about people all over the world, helping others, and looking after our planet. It’s about making good choices, being kind, and working together with others to make the world a better place for everyone. Students take part in our King’s Global Ambassador programme, which also supports this.

How we support learning

  • Students are taught in class sizes of no more than 22 students.
  • Each class (except Thai) is taught by a qualified international teacher and supported by an assistant teacher.
  • There is a dedicated Learning Enrichment department to support all students and, in particular, students with neurodiversity.
  • There is dedicated English as an additional language (EAL) support, with each year group having a specific EAL teacher.
  • We promote challenge for all and believe that all children can excel if provided with the right support to do so.
