Co-curricular Life Highlights

Co-curricular activities play a key role in student life at King’s, reflected in our significant investment in high-quality facilities for music, sport, and drama. Across all areas, we place a strong emphasis on variety and inclusion, encouraging pupils to explore new experiences, discover new interests, and develop a broad range of skills beyond the classroom.

CCAs

Our Senior School CCA programme complements the academic curriculum by giving students meaningful opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, and grow as individuals. Built around the themes of Creativity, Activity and Service, the programme encourages students to step beyond the classroom, take on new challenges and develop confidence, resilience, independence and leadership.

Sport at King’s

Sport and physical recreation are an important part of life at our school, supporting students’ health, well-being, confidence, and personal development. We provide opportunities for everyone, from students discovering a new activity to those aspiring to compete at the highest level.
Students can participate in a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, swimming, badminton, golf, and gymnastics, alongside many other activities.

Participation and Competition
Students have opportunities to represent their House and school in fixtures and competitions throughout the year. We compete regularly in BISA and FOBISIA events, giving students the chance to challenge themselves and compete against schools across Bangkok and the region.
Through sport, students develop teamwork, leadership, resilience, confidence, and decision-making, while learning to communicate, reflect and take responsibility for their own development.

Outstanding Facilities
Our students benefit from excellent sporting facilities, including a 50-metre indoor swimming pool, air-conditioned gymnasium with three full-size basketball courts, gymnastics hall, fitness suite and approximately 2,800 square metres of shaded sports and recreational space.
Together, our programme, coaching and facilities enable every student to participate, develop and achieve.

Music at King’s

Music is where every student can find their voice. With groups to cater for nearly every instrument, rehearsal spaces and practice rooms open at lunchtime, and a professional recording studio, students are free to explore, create, and perform whatever their level or style.

Music at King’s Bangkok is a dynamic and integral part of student life, designed to engage and inspire all students while fostering a lifelong love of music. Whether the interaction is large or small, we want music to be a daily part of life for every child. We constantly build upon the musical culture and create further opportunities for students to experience, create, and share music in meaningful ways.

With over 20 different ensembles, we offer an ambitious programme, encompassing senior and primary orchestras, string quartets, a guitar ensemble, a jazz band, strong primary and secondary choirs, a primary chamber choir, and numerous rock bands across the school. A particular strength of the school is the orchestral percussion and ensembles preparing for competitions. With 5 dedicated music classrooms, a music production suite and recording studio, 18 rehearsal practice rooms, Recital Hall and large theatre, we are well equipped to drive 21st Century music making.

Drama at King’s

Drama is where we build the bridge from "play" to "performance". In lessons we play games, explore common topics and ideas through discussion and reenactments, and we develop work to perform. We use published play scripts and we develop our own pieces. Each year group is given the opportunity to perform their work for an audience, either to their classmates, through assembly or for parents. We have regular large scale dramatic productions in our ECA programme for those who want to develop their talent on a larger scale. Through the process of developing work for performance, our students practise collaboration, put their creativity to use, and build their confidence. This means they take the skills they develop as innovators, as leaders, and as confident speakers with them for life.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (IA)

King’s College International School Bangkok is proud to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a programme that challenges students to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience, and grow through service, skill development, physical activity, and adventurous journeys.
Students begin in Year 9 with six weeks of expedition training, followed by a 13-week First Aid programme led by Year 10 Silver Award participants. All Year 9 students undertake two expeditions, a practice expedition and a qualifying expedition, alongside completing the Service, Physical Recreation, and Skills sections, with one section extended to six months, to achieve their Bronze Award.

The Silver and Gold Awards are optional but highly popular. Over 70% of students pursue Silver, which requires longer commitments across the Service, Physical Recreation, and Skills sections, alongside a three-day qualifying expedition. Around half continue to Gold, completing an even more demanding programme that includes a four-day qualifying expedition and a Residential Project, demonstrating exceptional commitment, leadership, and personal excellence.

Clubs and societies

Our clubs and societies programme reflects the curiosity, creativity, and ambition of our students. From Model United Nations, robotics, and entrepreneurship to chess, gardening, and a wide range of student-led initiatives, these communities provide opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections.

Many clubs and societies are linked to real-world challenges and global issues, encouraging students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and engage with the world around them. Whether designing innovative solutions, organising charitable initiatives, leading debates, or launching new projects, students are empowered to take ownership of their learning, find their voice, and make a positive and lasting impact.

Trips and residentials

At King’s College International School Bangkok, trips and residentials are about far more than visiting new places—they are about discovering new perspectives, developing character, and creating lifelong memories.

Our carefully planned programme of educational visits, residentials, and international expeditions is an integral part of a King's education. Each experience is designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts while developing independence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork.

The journey begins in Year 2 with an overnight sleepover on campus, providing students with their first experience of independence in a familiar and supportive environment. Through Key Stage 2 and the Senior School, students progress through increasingly adventurous residentials across Thailand, alongside service-learning projects, environmental conservation, cultural exchanges, academic visits, outdoor expeditions, and international travel. Each experience is carefully designed to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

From service-learning projects in northern Thailand to international academic and adventure expeditions, every journey is designed to deepen understanding, foster independence, and inspire personal growth. By stepping beyond the classroom, our students develop the confidence, empathy, and sense of purpose needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
