Laying the foundations, and lighting the spark

The quality of teaching at King's Bangkok is outstanding, and colleagues know how important the first two years of the Senior School are for developing a love of learning, imbuing good habits of concentration and understanding, fostering flexibility and imagination, and forging a disciplined approach to studies.

Lessons are engaging and purposeful, creating the best possible foundation for a lifetime of open-mindedness, learning and creativity. Students are taught by specialist teachers in all their subjects across a common curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Thai Studies, Modern Foreign Languages (Mandarin, Spanish, French or Japanese), Humanities, Art, Design & Technology, Drama, Music, Computing, Physical Education and Swimming.

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AT KING’S BANGKOK
(YEARS 10 AND 11)

Fueling ambition, and preparing for success

Outstanding teachers convey their passion and enthusiasm for their subject, and our learning spaces are engaging and inspirational. Students learn to develop their ideas and form opinions, creating an environment where knowledge takes deep root and the skills they cultivate are valued as much as the content they learn. IGCSEs are two-year courses which culminate in a set of qualifications valued by universities around the world. The temptation for some students is to allow all their energy to go towards these exams, but we work hard to ensure that they maintain a balance via their co-curricular pursuits, as student wellbeing remains at the forefront of our work. Students will study separate sciences which can lead to a triple award (three IGCSEs) or double award (two IGCSEs) in science. They will all study English (English Language, English Literature, with some students studying English as a second language), Mathematics (with selected students taking Further Mathematics), Languages (Mandarin, Japanese, French, Spanish, Thai) whilst also choosing subjects from Design & Technology, Physical Education, Art, History, Geography, Music, Economics, Business Studies, Psychology, Computer Science and Drama.

THE SIXTH FORM AT KING’S BANGKOK
(YEARS 12 AND 13)

Realising potential, and shaping futures

Students in Years 12 and 13 study A levels, an internationally recognised "gold standard" qualification which prepares them for any university around the world. For A levels, students pursue three or four courses in Year 12 and sit A level exams at the end of Year 13. Alongside their A level subjects, students will complete a King's Essay - a programme whereby students learn how to critically research a topic and to produce a piece of academic writing, which encourages them to delve deeper into an area of their interest, and they will also continue to participate in our co-curricular programme so that they are fully prepared for life at university. Their A levels are part of an extensive and varied curriculum. A levels are offered in English Literature, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Art, Design & Technology, Drama, Music, Computer Science, Economics, Psychology, Business Studies, French, Spanish and Mandarin. They also have the opportunity to undertake IELTS qualifications, whilst sitting a course on Living in the Modern World and maintaining their programme of physical health and wellbeing.
