Our approach to learning
We draw from the work of King’s College School, Wimbledon, in delivering an excellent curriculum underlined by strong values. We continue to provide the children with a friendly, child centred environment where everyone is challenged to improve. We still have a learning focus which encourages children to think, be creative and develop problem-solving skills and teach through play as much as possible in conjunction with a more formal curriculum with numeracy and literacy lessons, Mandarin, Art and DT, Sports and Music specialist teachers as well as Thai language and Culture teachers extend our children's interests and skills.
Supporting the transition from Early Years
Transition is a gradual process, not an event or jump from one year group to another. In Year 1 students move out of the Early Years Centre to join the older students in the Primary School. They benefit from specialists and classroom teachers, while keeping the Early Years philosophy and structure and support of a class teacher. The transition to Key Stage 1 is seamless in terms of teaching styles, routines, curriculum, expectations and emotional attachment.
Our children
In Key Stage 1 our children are from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds and they are all excited and happy to come to school. To us, this is the most important aspect of education. Happy children are kind, motivated and will achieve. There is always something wonderful going on at King’s Bangkok and children genuinely run through the school gate in the morning exuberant to come to school.
The King’s Bangkok Co-curricular Programme
Our students are given opportunities to take part in clubs and societies during lunchtimes as well as CCA (co-curricular activities) and ECA (extra-curricular activities) in the afternoons. Our Co-curricular Programme runs far wider than just this. It involves numerous house events, special days and events to make the learning experience much richer and all encompassing for the children.
